GENEVA, Ohio -- Mount Union senior Tyler Orewiler (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) in the pole vault and freshman Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy) led the way for the Purple Raiders at the Spire Midwest Open Saturday at Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Orewiler bested his own school record as he hit 17-feet in the pole vault to finish third in the event. It is the second-best mark in NCAA Division III so far this season.
Berry went below 7.0 seconds in the 60 meter dash as he posted a time of 6.93 to place second in the event. He currently sits seventh in NCAA Division III in the event this season.
Junior Zach Wukotich (Salem/Salem) won the high jump with a mark of 6-feet, 7-inches.
Two seniors -- Andrew Milhoan (East Sparta/Sandy Valley) and Alex Wilson (Macedonia/Nordonia) --posted season-bests and NCAA provisional marks in their respective events as Milhoan had an 8.33 in the 60 meter hurdles while Wilson went 14:55.09 in the 5000 meters.
Mount Union comes home to host the Jim Wuske Invitational next Saturday at Peterson Fieldhouse on campus.
