Mount Union was tabbed as the favorite during preseason voting by the Ohio Athletic Conference track and field coaches to win the 2016 OAC men's track and field outdoor title.

The Purple Raiders, who won their fifth straight and conference record 32nd title in 2015, tallied 79 points with eight first votes followed by Ohio Northern in second place with 79 points while third place Otterbein got 68 points and the other two first place votes.

John Carroll (52 points) and Baldwin Wallace (50 points) round out the top five.

Mount Union has five athletes returning that earned all-conference honors a year ago with a top three finish headlined by senior Tyler Sparks (Norwalk/Norwalk) -- the 2015 OAC Men's Sprint Athlete of the Meet at last year's OAC Championships.

Sparks won the 400 meter title and was part of the conference champion 4x400 meter relay team.

Sophomore Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) finished right behind Sparks in the 400 and joined him on that 4x400 relay that not only won the OAC title but won the national title last May.

Senior Rory Juhn (Fairview Park/Fairview) won the OAC high jump title a year ago while junior Zack Wukotich (Salem/Salem) finished third in the event last year and won the title in 2014.

Senior Andrew Milhoan (East Sparta/Sandy Valley) returns after winning the the 110 meter hurdles a year ago.

Senior Tyler Orewiler (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) rounds out the list as he was second in the pole vault in 2015.

The OAC Track & Field Championships will be held April 29-30 at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.
