DELAWARE, Ohio -- The No. 15 ranked Mount Union men's track and field team saw its 4x100 meter relay team punch its ticket to next week's NCAA Track & Field Championships Thursday at the Great Lakes Elite Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University.
The team of freshman Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy), junior Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) and seniors Chad Gentry (Louisville/Louisville) and Tyler Orewiler (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) posted a time of 41.26 in the event which is seventh best in the nation so far this season.
The 4x400 meter relay team that includes Gentry, freshman Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway), sophomore Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) and senior Tyler Sparks (Norwalk/Norwalk) ran a season-best time of 3:14.94 which leaves then on the bubble for a sport in the NCAA meet.
Two other Purple Raiders ran season-best times in their respective events as Josh Weber (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) posted a time of 21.90 in the 200 and Ty Menear (Brunswick/Brunswick) in the 3000 meter steeplechace at 9:10.54.
The NCAA Championships are next week at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
