GENEVA, Ohio -- The No. 21 ranked Mount Union men's indoor track and field team broke three school records Saturday at the Spire Invitational at Spire Institute in Geneva.
Junior Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) set a new school record and placed second in the 400 meters at 48.08 which bested the time of 48.10 by Tyler Mettille in 2014.
Sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) set a new school record and placed third in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.13 which topped a time of 8.15 by Andrew Milhoan in 2015.
Both of the times are provisional qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
A third record was broken in the 600 meters by senior Raphael Tshikala (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) with a time of 1:23.28. That time beat a 32-year old record of 1:23.40 set by Tom West in 1985.
Other top performances at the unscored meet came in the field events as there were second place finishes by senior Zach Wukotich (Salem/Salem) in the high jump (6-9) and junior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md. / High Point) in the long jump.
Third place finishes came from Ricky Rospierski Valley View/Cuyahoga Heights) in the pole vault (14-6.25) and the 4x400 meter relay team of Neff, junior Josh Weber (Wadsworth/Wadsworth), sophomore Clark Etzler (Elida/Elida) and freshman AJ Digby (Tontogany/Ostego) with a time of 3:18.62.
