ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's track and field team won four events while a pair of freshmen set meet records Saturday at the Wuske Invitational in Peterson Fieldhouse in Alliance.
Freshman AJ Digby (Tontogany/Ostego) won the 500 meters with a meet record time of 1:05.85 which was less than a second off the school record while sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) placed third (1:30.48).
The other meet record came from freshman Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) in the 5000 meters with a meet record time of 15:22.35. The Purple Raiders took the top five spots in the event as fellow freshman Jared Marsh (Massillon/Jackson) was second, junior Brett Radabaugh (Hamden/Vinton County) was third, sophomore Casey Kropka (New London/New London) was fourth and Jon Bach (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) was fifth.
The Raiders fourth event win came in the 1000 meters from senior Matt O'Neil (Woodridge, Va. / Pope John Paul) with a time of 2:39.39.
Other top performances came in second place finishes from junior Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) in the 200 meters (22.75) and junior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md./High Point) in the long jump (22-2) with third place finishes from junior Joe Colon (Amherst/Steele) in the 3000 meters (9:17.56) and junior Adam Sopchak (Chardon/Chardon) in the mile run (4:30.48).
Mount Union runs next week at the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University in Westerville.
