ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The No. 11 ranked Mount Union men's indoor track and field team won 11 events Saturday at the Raider Tune-Up at Peterson Fieldhouse on campus.
The Purple Raiders will try to win their fifth straight and record 36th conference title next weekend at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Baldwin Wallace in Berea.
The wins were headlined by senior Raphael Tshikala (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) who won the triple jump with a career-best mark of 45-5.25.
Four freshman also won events with season best marks as Mason Plant (Shreve/Triway) won the 60 meter hurdles at 8.21, Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) won the pole vault at 15-feet, 5.75-inches, Sean Sherman (Franklin/Bishop Fenwick) won the shot put (53-5) and Jon Bach (Wadsworth/Wadsworth) won the 5000 meters (16:02.18).
A trio of sophomores in Colten Trimble (Hookstown, Pa. / South Side Beaver), Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and Sam Printy (Sandusky/Perkins) won the 1 mile (4:30.92), meter dash (7.02) and 200 meters (23:07) respectively.
Rounding out the wins was the 4x200 meter relay team of sophomores Nick Medaglia (Parma/Parma), Jarred Chorpenning (Hebron/Lakewood), Trey Palmer (Wooster/Wooster) and Nathanael Traver (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) with a time of 1:34.49.
