Mount Union to Send 11 to NCAA Indooor Track & Field Championships

Mount Union will send seven men and four women to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday-Saturday, March 10-11 at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

The seven members of the men's team are in five events as the Purple Raiders place third as a team in 2015. Mount Union has finished in the top 10 in the nation 12 different times in its history.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each woman's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors.

Senior Zack Wukotich (Salem/Salem) is seeded 14th in the high jump at 6-feet, 9-inches. It is the third time in his career that he is in the NCAA Indoor Championships and he is a two-time All-American in the event placing 5th in 2014 and 6th in 2015.

Sophomore Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) is back in the 60 meter dash for a second straight year as he is seeded ninth with a time of 6.87. Berry, who is also a defensive back on the Mount Union football team, was an All-American with a sixth place finish in the event in 2016.

Sophomore Conner Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) is seeded fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.07. It is his first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships but he did place 11th a year ago in the 100 meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Another Raider is in the 60 meter hurdles as freshman Mason Plant (Shreve/Triway) is seeded 14th at 8.18.

Two Mount Union sprinters are in the 400 meters as freshman AJ Digby (Tontogany/Ostego) is seeded seventh at 48.72 and junior Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) is 9th at 48.55.

Neff, Digby, Troyer along with sophomore Clark Etzler (Elida/Elida) are also part of a 4x400 meter relay team in the meet with the ninth best time in the nation at 3:19.16. Neff was part of an All-American third place 4x400 relay team in 2015.

On the women's side, four athletes are in the meet in three events.

Senior Marisa Rinaldi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) makes her first-ever national meet appearance as she is seeded 17th in the 400 meters at 57.73.

Junior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) is seeded 16th in the 60 meter dash at 7.79. Goedecke was part of a 4x100 meter relay team that ran at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

A pair of freshmen are also in the meet as Daijana Johnson (Alliance/Alliance) is seeded 10th in the 60 meter dash at 7.75 and Rachael Adams (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas) is seeded 13th in the 200 meters at 25.38.

Mount Union will host the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at SPIRE Institute on May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio.
