Track & Field: Mount Union Men Place Fifth at NCAA Championships; Five Individuals & 4x400 Relay Earn All-American Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Mount Union's men's track and field team placed fifth as a team at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Five individuals (four men and one woman) and the men's 4x400 meter relay team earned All-American honors.

Freshman AJ Digby (Tontogany/Otsego) and sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) each earned All-American honors in two events.

Digby ran a 48.64 and was just beat at the line in the 400 meter final by .02 seconds to place second while Troyer was seventh in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.20 and both of the them ran with freshman James Roth (Massillon/Perry and sophomore Clark Etzler (Elida/Elida) to place second in the 4x400 meter relay at 3:16.97.

Senior Zack Wukotich (Salem/Salem) became a three-time All-American in the men's high jump as he was seventh at 6-7.5.

Two other Raiders earned All-American honors as freshman Mason Plant (Shreve/Triway) placed third in the 60 meter hurdles (8.20), freshman Daijana Johnson (Alliance/Alliance) set a school record in the preliminares and finished fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.20).

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each woman's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors.

Mount Union will host the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at SPIRE Institute on May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio.
