Men's Track & Field: Wilson & Myers Go the Distance at Bucknell; #21 Mount Union Wins Walsh Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Mount Union senior Alex Wilson (Macedonia/Nordonia) and freshman Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Divsion III Track & Field Championships in the 10,000 meters after season-best performances at the Bucknell Invitational.

Wilson ran a time of 29:59.31 which currently puts him second in the nation in the event, while Myers posted a time of 30:56.38 that is ninth nationally.

The rest of the nationally ranked No. 21 Purple Raider squad won the Walsh Invitational in North Canton.

The 4x100 meter relay of sophomores Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway), junior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md. / High Point) and senior Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) won the event with a season-best and seventh-best time nationally of 41.64.

McGill also got a win in the long jump (21-9.75) while Berry and Shrewsbury also placed second and third in the 100 meters. Berry ran a career-best time of 10.67 that stands seventh in the naiton in the event.

Mount Union won three other events on the day.

Freshman Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) matched his season-best winning the pole vault at 15-feet, 7.25-inches.

Freshman Sean Sherman (Franklin/Bishop Fenwick) and Austin Aikins (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) went 1-2 in the shot put at 52-feet, 2.75-inches and 49-feet, 4-inches respectively.

Senior Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J. / Hanover Park) won the javelin (186-2.5) while fellow senior Darin Redus (Pepper Pike/Orange) was second in the long jump (21-5.35) to round out the top performances on the day.

Mount Union competes next week at the Sparky Adams Invite at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea.
