Men's Track & Field: #17 Mount Union Wins Five Events at BW in Final Tune-Up Before OAC's

BEREA, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's track and field team, ranked No. 17 in the nation, won five events Saturday at the Sparky Adams Invitational at Baldwin Wallace.

Two Purple Raiders tied for an event win as freshman Mason Plant (Shreve/Triway) and sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) both ran the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.59.

Junior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md. / High Point) was in on two event wins as he won the long jump with a mark of 21-feet, 9.5-inches then combined with Troyer, sophomore Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and senior Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) to win the 4x100 meter relay (42.60).

The Raiders swept the top two places in the 1500 by senior Alex Wilson (Macedonia/Nordonia) and sophomore Jason Hadley (Liberty Center/Liberty Center) then the top three places in the javelin from senior Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park), freshman Bryce Biskup (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and senior Adam Gundlah (Strongsville/Strongsville).

Mount Union also got second place finishes from sophomore Max Williams in the hammer throw, freshman Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) in the pole vault, senior Rory Juhn (Fairview Park/Fairview) in the high jump and freshman Sean Sherman (Franklin/Bishop Fenwick) in the shot put.

The Raiders next compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships next Friday and Saturday at Muskingum University in New Concord.
