Track & Field: Plant Makes Finals in 110 Hurdles to Lead Mount Union on Day Two at NCAA Track & Field Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Mount Union freshman Mason Plant (Shreve/Triway) made the finals of the 110 meter hurdles to headline the Purple Raiders day two at the 2017 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

Plant ran a time of 14.53 in event to sit eighth after the preliminaries and will run in Saturday's final.

Four other members of the men's team competed on Friday as sophomore Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) placed 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (14.57), freshman AJ Digby (Tontogany/Otsego) finished 12th in the 400 meters with a time of 48.93, freshman Sean Sherman (Franklin/Bishop Fenwick) was 13th in the shot put (52-1.75) and sophomore Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) was 18th in the in the 100 meter dash (10.92).

The men's team, ranked No. 9 in the nation, stands in sixth place heading into Saturday's final day of competition.

On the women's side, three Raiders ran in the 100 meters as freshman Daijana Johnson (Alliance/Alliance) was 10th at 12.26, junior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) was 11th at 12.28 and freshman Rachael Adams (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas) was 16th at 12.35.

Competing on Saturday will be freshman Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) in the pole vault (12 p.m.), the women's 4x100 meter relay (12:05 p.m.), Plant in the 110 meter hurdles (1 p.m.), Troyer in the 400 meter hurdles (2:25 p.m.) and the men's 4x400 meter relay (4 p.m.).
