AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union sophomores Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) and Sean Sherman (Franklin / Bishop Fenwick) swept Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards this week.

Both led the Purple Raiders to the team title at last week's OAC North Split Meet at Baldwin Wallace in Berea.

Plant set a school record in winning the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.50. That time is converted into the second-best time in NCAA Division III in the 60 meter hurdles which is the event run at the NCAA Championships. It is the second time in his career he has won the conference weekly award.

Sherman won the shot put with a career-best indoor mark of 54-feet, 3.25-inches which is the top mark in the event this season. It is the first time in his career that he has claimed the conference's weekly honor.

Mount Union competes this week at the SPIRE Midwest Open Saturday, Jan. 27 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
