Mount Union to Host Jim Wuske Indoor Track & Field Invite February 3

The University of Mount Union hosts the annual Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday, Feb. 3 at Peterson Fieldhouse on campus.

The meet is named after former Mount Union coach Jim Wuske, who brought the Purple Raider cross country and track teams to national prominence in his 24 years of coaching. Wuske had a total of 36 athletes received 59 All-America citations with 60 individual Ohio Athletic Conference outdoor champions and 56 OAC indoor champions in track and field.  In 1977-78, Mount Union became the first school in the history of the OAC to sweep team championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track in the same year.

In 1974, Wuske coached Mount Union's cross country team to the NCAA Division III National Championship and was named national coach of the year.
