WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's indoor track and field team, ranked No. 8 in the nation, won its seventh straight team title at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships Saturday at Otterbein University.
The Purple Raiders tallied 143 points which was 47 ahead of second place Case Western Reserve (96).
Mount Union won four events headlined by sophomore Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) in the 60 meter hurdles, who bested his own school record and had the top time nationally in NCAA Division III at 8.02.
Two more Raider sophomores were repeat winners in their respective events as AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) won the 400 meters (49.14) while Matt Keim (Bolivar / Tusky Valley) won the pole vault (15-9).
The other Mount win came in the 4x200 relay as sophomore Josh Perry (Cuyahoga Falls), senior Josh Weber (Wadsworth), freshman Kendall Shadie (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) and junior Josiah Ross (Beloit / West Branch) posted a season-best time of 1:32.39.
Junior Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa. Shady Side Academy) was 0.007 from getting Mount Union a win in the 60 meter dash and other second place individual finishes came from senior Tyler Neff (Navarre / Fairless) in the 200 meters (22.82), sophomore Sean Sherman (Hamilton / Bishop Fenwick) in the shot put (53-3) and freshman Mark Worley (North Canton / Hoover) in the 800 meters (1:57.85).
The 4x400 meter relay team of freshmen Issac Phillips (Milford, Mich. / Milford), Michael Chavarria (Canton / GlenOak) and Worley along with Digby also posted a second place with a time of 3:25.40.
Mount Union hosts the Raider Tune-Up next Saturday, Feb. 17 at Peterson Fieldhouse on campus.
