WOOSTER, Ohio --The No. 7 ranked Mount Union men's track and field team won seven events and the team title at the Wooster Invitational Saturday at The College of Wooster.
The Purple Raiders tallied 274 team points to win the meet which was 153 points ahead of second place Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Four of the wins came in field events from Connor Brogan (Dover) in the hammer throw (163-5), Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J. / Hanover Park) in the javelin (176-6), Matt Keim (Bolivar / Tusky Valley) in the pole vault (16-4.75) and Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md. / High Point) in the long jump (22-0.25).
The other three wins came from Jon Bach (Wadsworth) in the 5,000 meters (15:35.30), James Roth (Massillon / Perry) in the 800 meters (1:57.28) and Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) in the 110 meter hurdles (14.66).
Mount Union also got four second place finishes from Joe Colon (Amherst / Steele) in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (10:13.28), Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) in both the high jump (6-3.25) and triple jump (41-4.25), Josh Perry (Cuyahoga Falls) in the 200 meters (22.62) and the 4x100 meter relay team of McGill, Josh Weber (Wadsworth), Kendall Shadie (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) and AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) with a time of 42.86.
The Raiders host the John Homon Open next weekend at Mount Union Stadium.
