LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Two Mount Union track and field records were set among a host of season-bests accomplished at the Bucknell Track Classic at Bucknell University.
Senior Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J. / Hanover Park) bested his own school record in the javelin throw as he placed second with a mark of 214-feet, 10-inches. That mark is third best in NCAA Division III so far this season and provisionally qualifies Scott to return to the NCAA Championships. He was an All-American in the event last year with a fourth place finish.
Junior Hilary Reigle (Madison) set a school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:18.14 which beat a time of 17:26.83 that Catie Campbell ran for the Purple Raiders in 2015. It is currently the 21st best time in NCAA Division III this season and the top 22 times in each women's event qualifies for next month's national championship meet.
Mount Union will compete at a pair of events next weekend. Some members of the team will head to the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State while others will be at the Sparky Adams Inviational at Baldwin Wallace.
