NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Mount Union's men's track and field team had 19 All-Great Lakes Region selections from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
The Purple Raiders also went up to No. 7 in the national rankings ahead of this week's NCAA Division III Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams.
On the men's side, a total of 743 athletes from 192 programs earned 948 All-Region honors. Five programs had 19 or more All-Region selections -- George Fox (Ore.) had 23, Rowan (N.J.) with 22, North Central with 20 while Christopher Newport (Va.) and Mount Union both had 19.
For the women, the Raiders had 17 selections out of the 667 total athletes from 184 programs earned 940 All-Region honors. Geneseo St. (N.Y.) had a nation's best 23 selections.
Two Mount Union athletes were All-Region in three different events in sophomores AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) -- 400 meters, 4x100 and 4x400 relays and Rachael Adams (Louisville / St. Thomas Aquinas) -- 100 meters, 200 meters and 4x100 relay.
The men's team jumped up five spots in the national rankings this week to No. 7. North Central (Ill.) tops the rankings.
