ALLIANCE, Ohio— Mount Union's men track and field team, ranked No. 3 in the nation, came away with six first place finishes Saturday at the Jim Wuske Invitational in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders had an NCAA provensional from senior Sean Sherman (Franklin / Bishop Fenwick) in the shot put with a throw of 54-feet 11.25-inches currently sitting ninth overall in Division III.
Junior Evan Hershberger (Dalton) won in high jump clearing 6-feet 4.75-inches and freshman Brody Coleman (Knox, Pa. / Keystone) picked up a victory in the triple jump with a jump of 46-feet 3.5-inches.
In the running events the men picked up three victories in the 500-dash with sophomore Dylon Campbell (Cuyahoga Falls) winning with a time of 1:08.17, freshman Matthew McBride (Conneaut) won the 800 with a conference leading time of 1:58.48, sophomore Logan Brown (Springfield / Northeastern) finishing in 16:13.56 in the 5k.
Junior Jon Wahlie (Lima / Shawnee) and sophomore Hunter Probert (Gnadenhutten / Indian Valley) finished second and third in the 1k with times of 2:38.85 and 2:41.42, sophomore Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:00.60, while freshmen Jeff Joseph (Beloit / West Branch) in the mile (4:26.65) and Jared Storm (Baberton) in the 60-dash (7.03) picked up third places.
Mount Union travels to Westerville, Ohio next Saturday, Feb. 15 to compete at the All-Ohio Championships.
