Men's Cross Country: Mount Union's O'Neil and Thomas Earn UTFCCCA All-Academic Scholar Athlete Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- University of Mount Union men's cross country runners Matt O'Neil (Woodbridge, Va. / Pope John Paul) and Nick Thomas (Louisville / Louisville) have earned All-Academic Scholar Athlete honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The USTFCCCA awards All-Academic Scholar Athlete honors to athletes with at least a 3.30 grade point average that finished in the top 25 percent of their respective regional meet.

O'Neil, a junior Exercise Science major with a 3.45 grade point average, earned All-Great Lakes Region accolades with a 14th place finish and All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team honors as he placed second at the OAC Championships helping the Purple Raiders win the team title.

Thomas, a sophomore with a 3.64 grade point average as a Neuroscience major, placed 37th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional and was also Academic All-OAC.
