Men's Cross Country: Raiders Win Yellow Jacket Invite; Myers Wins Individual Title

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Mount Union freshman Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) finished first out of 317 runners to lead the Purple Raiders' cross country team to the team title at the Yellow Jacket Invitational Saturday at Genesse Valley Park.

Myers posted a time of 25:38.4 on the 8k course which was just a head of second place Joseph Smith of St. Lawrence (25:43.4).

Myers was one of three Mount Union runners in the top 10 as Matt O'Neil (Woodbridge, Va./Pope John Paul) and Nick Thomas (Louisville/Louisville) placed seventh and ninth respectively.

Adam Sopchak (Chardon/Chardon) and Colten Trimble (Hookstown, Pa./South Side Beaver) made up the rest of the winning team total with an 18th and 27th place finishes.

Mount Union had 62 total points which was 36 ahead of second place Case Western Reserve.

The Raiders run again Friday, Oct. 30 at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.
