Men's Cross Country: #17 Mount Union Puts Five in Top 20 To Win All-Ohio Team Title; First For Raiders Since 2006

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's cross country team, ranked No. 17 in the nation, claimed the NCAA Divsion III team title at the 2016 All-Ohio Championships Friday at Cedarville University.

The Purple Raiders placed five runners in the top 20 to win the team title for an 11th time in school history and first time since 2006. Mount Union's other team titles came in 1967-70, 1977, 1995-97, 2002 and 2006.

Mount Union had 60 points followed by fellow Ohio Athletic Conference members Ohio Northern (67 pts) and John Carroll (100 pts).

Freshman Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) finished fourth overall on the 8k course with a time of 26:02.9.

Senior Matt O'Neil (Woodbridge, Va./Pope John Paul) also had a top 10 finish for the Raiders in sixth at 26:14.1.

Mount Union next runs October 15 at the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.
