Mount Union's Durisin & Myers Sweep OAC Cross Country Freshmen of the Year Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union freshmen Katie Durisin (Painesville/Riverside) and Preston Myers (Alliance/Marlington) swept Ohio Athletic Conference Cross Country Female and Male Freshman Runner of the Year honors.

Both claimed the awards as the highest finishing freshmen at the OAC Championships.

Durisin was 18th at the conference meet to claim All-OAC second team accolades. She ran her best 6k time of year at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional where she placed 29th overall with a time of 22:46.5.

Myers placed second overall and grabbed All-OAC first team honors at the OAC Championships. He posted five top-10 finishes this past fall including winning the individual title and the Rochester Yellow Jacket Invitational. His best 8k time was 24:57.6 at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble.

He was All-Great Lakes Region with an eighth place overall finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional that led Mount Union to a fourth place team finish and a bid in the 2016 NCAA Championships.
