The Mount Union softball team will play in two double-headers this weekend, Friday at Otterbein (1:00 p.m.) and Saturday vs Muskingum (1:00 p.m.).
The Purple Raiders enter this weekend's games with a record of 10-3 and have won eight of its last nine games.
Mount Union has received some stellar pitching performances this season as they rank first in the Ohio Athletic Conference in least amount of runs allowed (21), first in least amount of walks (11), have the most strikeouts (89), are second in least amount of earned runs allowed (16) and have the second best ERA (1.37).
Senior Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) pitched back-to-back no-hitters on the Raiders spring trip against Lakeland (Wis.) and Anderson (Ind.). McAninch currently ranks tied for first in the conference in wins (6), first in innings pitched (50.2), first in strikeouts (64), first in strikeouts- per-game (8.84) and second in ERA (1.11). Her ERA of 1.11 ranks seventh in the country.
As a team the Raiders have a batting average of .279 and are led by senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) who leads the team in several categories: batting average (.513), hits (20), tied for first in home runs (2), RBI (10), stolen bases (7), On-base-percentage (.596) and slugging percentage (.718).
Otterbein enters Friday's game with a record of 6-4.
As a team, Otterbein has a batting average of .288 and are led by Erin Carpenter who has a batting average of .483 while their pitching staff has a team ERA of 4.54 and is led by Kelsey Long who has a record of 5-1 and an ERA of 1.57.
Last season, the Cardinals compiled a record of 26-16 and earned the number three seed in the conference tournament.
The Cardinals defeated the Raiders 7-1 and 7-4 last season.
Muskingum has a record of 11-3 and is currently on an eight game win streak.
The Muskies have a team batting average of .362 which is tied for first in the conference. They also lead the conference in runs (95), hits (146), home runs (10), RBI (82) and slugging percentage (.511). Jaclynn Hess leads the team in home runs (5) and batting average (.569) which rank first and second in the conference respectively.
As a team, Muskingum has an ERA of 3.13 and are led by Brittany Folk who has a record of 6-4 and has an ERA of 2.16.
