Softball Travels To Marietta For Final OAC Road Series

The Mount Union softball team travels to Marietta for its last Ohio Athletic Conference road series of the season Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Team Records: Mount Union enters Tuesday's series with an overall record of 18-11 and is tied for fourth place in the OAC standings with Ohio Northern with an 8-6 record. The Purple Raiders are coming of a sweep of Heidelberg in their last series. 

Marietta enters Tuesday's series with an overall record of 20-12 and is in third place in the OAC standings with a 10-4 record. The Pioneers were swept by John Carroll in their last series.

OAC Tournament picture: The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the OAC tournament. Both teams play its final regular-season series on Saturday; Mount Union hosts Wilmington and Marietta travels to Baldwin Wallace.

Scouting the Raiders: The Raiders have a batting average of .271 while opponents are batting .260. The Raiders feature the OAC's No. 2 pitching staff that posts an era of 2.31 while opponents have an ERA of 3.54 against Mount Union. 

Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) leads the team with a .419 batting average on the season, 23 runs, three doubles and 19 RBI. Gromes is tied for the team-lead in home runs with 4 with Leigh Siedlak (Westerville/Westerville South). 

Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) leads the team with a 10-8 record and is second in the conference with a 1.96 ERA and 123 strikeouts. 

Scouting the Pioneeers: The Pioneers have a batting average of .293 while opponents are batting .290. Marietta's pitchers post an ERA of 3.14 while opponents have an ERA of 4.68 against the Pioneers. 

Trayla Liles leads the team with a batting average of .444 and 32 RBI. Liles is tied for the most home runs in the conference with 10. Lauren Larrick leads the team with a 9-5 record and has a 3.21 ERA. Courtney Kerwood leads the Pioneers with a 2.10 ERA.
