Softball Hosts Wilmington In Regular Season Finale Saturday

The Mount Union softball team hosts Wilmington in its final regular season Ohio Athletic Conference series of the season Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at 23rd Street Field.

Team Records: Mount Union enters Saturday's series with an overall record of 20-11 and is tied for third place in the OAC standings with a 10-6 record. 

Wilmington enters Saturday's games with an overall record of 20-14 and is in sixth place in the conference standings with a 5-11 record. 

OAC Tournament: The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament. 

Regional Rankings: The Purple Raiders are currently ranked sixth in the latest NCAA DIII regional softball rankings. Four other conference teams also appear in the rankings: Capital (2nd), John Carroll (3rd), Marietta (5th) and Muskingum (7th).  

Scouting the Raiders: The Raiders enter Saturday's games batting .276 and feature the OAC's no. 1 ranked pitching staff that has an ERA of 2.28. 

Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) leads the Raiders with a .429 batting average, 24 runs, three triples, 22 RBI and is tied with Leigh Siedlak (Westerville/Westerville South) for the team lead with four home runs. 

Rachel McAninch (West Jefferson/West Jefferson) leads the team with a 12-8 record and ranks second in the conference with a 1.94 ERA and 143 strikeouts. 

Scouting the Quakers: The Quakers enter Saturday's games batting .310 and feature the OAC's no. 3 pitching staff that has an ERA of 2.81. 

Brooke Byrne leads the Quakers with a .417 batting average and 28 RBI. 

Danielle Monnier leads the team with a 12-8 record and leads the conference with a 1.31 ERA and ranks fourth in strikeouts (113). 

Series History: Mount Union has won five out of the last six meetings with Wilmington.
