Softball: Raiders Host Ohio Northern in Home Opener; Weather Moves Game to Sunday

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The University of Mount Union women's softball team hosts Ohio Northern for an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader, home opener Sunday, Mar. 29 at 1 and 3 pm.

The Purple Raiders (9-7, 2-0 OAC) are coming off two losses to Otterbein last weekend.

Leading the team is sophomore Olivia Schumacher (Gahanna/Gahanna Licoln) hitting a .525 batting average with 61 at bats and 32 hits. Close behind is sophomore Brooke Cox(Louisville/Louisville) hitting a .439 with 12 runs batted in.

Senior Leigh Siedlak (Westeville/Westerville South) is hitting a .380 while leading the team in home runs (4 HR).

On the mound for the Raiders, junior Erin Simmons (Suffield/Field) is leading with 29 strikeouts and 54.1 innings pitched. Sophomore Allie Scalli (Parma/Parma) is 2-2 for Mount Union with one save on the year with 23 strikeouts and 31.0 innings pitched.

Mount Union continues with OAC action as they travel to John Carroll Tuesday, Mar. 31 to take on the Blue Streaks at 3:00 and 5:00 pm.
