Softball: Mount Union Travels to Capital Saturday

ALLIANCE, Ohio-- The University of Mount  Union softball team travels to Capital for an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday, April 11 at 1 pm in Columbus.

The Purple Raiders are 10-12 overall (3-5 OAC) on a four-game losing streak. Capital is 16-7 overall (7-1 OAC) on a five-game win streak including a sweep of Wilmington Monday.

The Raiders are led by sophomore Olivia Schumacher (Gahanna/Gahanna Lincoln) who is second in the OAC hitting a .500 batting average and scoring 23 runs off of 41 hits.

Freshman Brittany Baitt (Painesville/Riverside) follows with 30 hits and second on the team with 16 runs batted in; just two behind sophomore Logan Lehman (Orriville/Orrville) driving in 18 RBI.

On the mound for the Raiders, junior Erin Simmons(Suffield/Field) is leading the team with 69.1innings pitched with 34 strikeouts while being ranked eighth in the conference with five wins.

Mount Union is scheduled to host Marietta in a make-up game Sunday, April 12 at 1 pm at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.
