Softball: Mount Union Hosts Ohio Wesleyan Sunday in Home Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's softball team hosts Ohio Wesleyan for their home opener Sunday, March 19 in a non-conference double header starting at 1:00 pm.

What: Mount Union (10-6) vs. Ohio Wesleyan (4-8)

When: Sunday, March 19 – 1:00 pm & 3:00 p.m.

Where: 23rd Street Field – Alliance, Ohio  

Game Preview

The Purple Raiders are coming off a two win victory over Grove City (Pa.) Thursday, March 17.  

In the first game, Allie Scali tossed a complete game and allowed two hits with six strikeouts with the Raiders pulling out a 14-1 win. Scali had help from an offense that scored 14 runs on 13 hits.  Andi Vansickle hit a two-run home run and Logan Lehman drove in three runs to pace the Raiders

Mount Union shut out Grove City in the second game with Lehman driving in two runs. Jordan Kramer (Mentor/Mentor), Jessica Kennedy (Beach City/Fairless), Jessica Calhoun (Brunswick/Brunswick) and Jordan Tull (Brewster/Fairless) each ran in one run.  

Erin Simmons (Suffied/Field) pitched a full game allowing no runs and having two strikeouts.

Ohio Wesleyan split with Muskingum Thursday, March 17 defeating them 6-1 and losing the next game 0-9. The Battling Bishops will take on Alma Saturday, March 19.
