Softball: Raiders Open OAC Play Splitting a Pair of Games With Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio- Mount Union's softball team opened up Ohio Athletic Conference play splitting a pair of games with Baldwin Wallace Saturday, March 25 in Berea, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders (7-9, 1-1 OAC) lost the first the first game 7-4 then came back and defeated the Yellow Jackets 6-0 in the second game.

In game one, senior Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) took the loss pitching six innings allowing five walks, seven runs on eight hits and had two strikeouts.

Baldwin Wallace scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. The Yellow Jackets had big innings in the second and third as they drove in three runs in each inning, leading the Raiders 7-0.

Scali doubled to center field driving in junior Jessica Calhoun (Brunswick/Brunswick) to get the Raiders on the board.

Mount Union attempted a rally four runs in the seventh with two walks and a three RBI on two outs by senior Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) but Baldwin Wallace finished out the seventh to defeat the Raiders 7-4.

In the second game, Mount Union got the first run as freshman Emily Hume (Minerva/Minerva) advanced to third on a Lehman single and scored on a fielding error by Baldwin Wallace.

Freshman Morgan Riley (Charleoi, Pa./Charleoi) had a double to left center two RBI and junior Shelby Vansickle drove in another run for the Raiders to put Mount Union  up 4-0 in the fourth.

Two scoreless innings led to Lehman smashing a two-run home run in the top of the seventh leading the Yellow Jackets 6-0. Baldwin Wallace could not get a hit as Mount Union defeated the Yellow Jackets.

On the mound, freshman Hannah Reusser (Minvera/Minerva) got the win as she allowed seven hits and had one strikeout.

The Raiders travel to Wooster, Ohio for a doubleheader Thursday, March 30 at 3:30 and 5:30 PM.
