WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union's softball team dropped two Ohio Athletic Conference games to Otterbein Saturday afternoon at Rike Field in Westerville, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders (17-19, 9-7 OAC) dropped the first game 7-0 and got shut out in six innings in the second game 8-0.
Otterbein had 12 hits in the first game as they scored runs in the first, fourth, fifth and four runs in the sixth to take a commanding 7-0 lead over the Raiders. Mount Union only had two hits, both coming from junior Jordan Kramer (Mentor/Mentor), as the Raiders could not drive in a run.
On the mound, Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) took the loss as she falls to 7-10 on the season.
The Cardinals scored the first two runs of the second game as they led the Raiders 2-0.
Mount Union had bases loaded in the fourth as juniors Brittany Baitt (Painesville/Riverside) and Kramer each singled and Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) reached on a fielder's choice. The Raiders could not drive a run in as Morgan Riley (Charleoi, Pa./Chareloi) hit into a double play and Brooke Cox (Louisville/Louisville) grounded out to the short stop.
A seven hit, six run inning for Otterbein ended the game as they defeated Mount Union 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth.
In the circle, Hannah Reusser (Minerva/Minerva) took the loss as she falls to 10-8 on the season.
Mount Union next takes on non-conference opponent Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio Thursday, April 27 at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
