Softball: Mount Union Falls to #25 Otterbein at OAC Tournament

WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Four seeded Mount Union lost to top seeded and No. 25 ranked Otterbein 7-1 Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament in Westerville.

The Purple Raiders (18-22-1) next play No. 2 seed Heidelberg in an elimination game at 4:00 p.m. today.

Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) tossed a 5.2 inning game and struck out three to fall to 7-13 on the season.

Jessica Calhoun (Brunswick/Brunswick) hit her second home run of the year to get the Raiders off to a 1-0 start in the top of the second.

Rachael Owens drove in a run for Otterbein to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second. A three-run home run from Bailey McElwain put the Cardinals up 4-1 over the Raiders in the third.

Niki Weaver and Maddie Flasco each drove in a run for Otterbein pushing their lead up, 6-1 in the sixth. Hannah Wharton (Niles/Niles Mckinley) came in to pitch for Scali allowing two walks, one scoring a run, to have the Cardinals lead 7-1.

The Raiders could not get a hit in the seventh as the Cardinals would go on for the 7-1 victory.
