Softball: Mount Union Defeats Heidelberg in OAC Tournament

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- No. 4 seed Mount Union defeated No. 2 seed Heidelberg 8-2 Sunday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Tournament in Westerville.

The Purple Raiders (19-22-1) next play No. 3 seed Capital in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m. today with the winner of that game advancing to the championship round against host and top seed Otterbein.

Mount Union pitcher Hannah Reusser (Minerva/Minerva) held Heidelberg to two runs on six hits for the complete game win to improve to 12-8 on the season.

Morgan Riley (Chareloi, Pa/Charleoi) started off the game with a double down the left field line driving in Brittany Baitt (Painesville/Riverside) to get the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the first.

Casey Moore singled to left center driving in a Student Prince run to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom of the fourh Allie Scali (Parma/Parma) put the Raiders back in the lead, 3-1, with a two-run single to right field driving in Riley and Jessica Calhoun (Brunswick/Brunswick).

A Kaitlin Keys home run got the Berg back within a run, 3-2 in the fifth.

Mount Union answered with two home runs of their own as Logan Lehman (Orrville/Orrville) had a three-run shot in fifth and Baitt had a two-run blast in the sixth for the 8-2 final.
