Softball: Raiders Lose to Eastern Nazarene and Franklin; Goldy's Three-Run Homer Not Enough

Minneola, Fla. – Mount Union's softball team lost to both Eastern Nazarene College (Mass.) and Franklin College (Ind.) on Monday morning at the Minneola Athletic Complex.

Against ENC (4-2), the Purple Raiders struck first with an RBI single from Margaret Dominick (Dennison/Tuscarawas Central Catholic) , scoring Morgan Riley (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) who was on base with a double in her first at-bat of the day. After that, Mount Union struggled to get on the board once ENC tabbed a two-run homerun and two more RBIs to win 4-1.

Jordan Tull (Brewster/Fairless), receiving the loss, falls to 0-2 after giving up three runs on hits and a walk.

Against Franklin College (6-0), Mount Union was down early 3-0 in the top of the second inning. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Allie Goldy (Painesville/Riverside) struck a three-run homer over the centerfield fence to tie the game at 3-3. In the top of the seventh, Mount Union pitcher Hannah Reusser (Minerva/Minerva) ran into some trouble with bases loaded as Franklin was able to get in two more runs off a walk and a ground-out RBI, winning 5-3; Reusser is now 1-2 in Florida.

Mount Union (1-5) is back in action Tuesday, March 6 at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. against Mount Ida (Mass.) and Morrisville State (N.Y.) at Legends Way in Clermont, Florida.
