Mount Union to Host Capital for StrikeOut Cancer Game

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union softball team hosts Capital Saturday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m. in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader dedicated to the cancer awareness initiative "StikeOut Cancer" through the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The StrikeOut Cancer program focuses on and enhances personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of fastpitch softball coaches across the country to help increase cancer education and promote healthy lifetstules through awareness and fundraising efforts.

Mount Union's softball team will be selling raffle tickets for a 50/50 drawing and various raffle baskets, with prizes being drawn between the games.

Tickets will be sold for: 1 ticket for $1.00, 6 tickets for $5.00 and 15 tickets for $10.00. The team will also be accepting donations on behalf of the event.

All proceeds will benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a childhood cancer research foundation, and will also honor Gary Saunders. Coach Saunders was a member of the Baldwin Wallace softball coaching staff, who lost his battle with cancer December 15, 2017.
