LEESBURG, Fla. -- Mount Union's softball team won their sixth straight game in a sweep against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) and North Park (Ill.) Friday afternoon at Sleepy Hollow Recreational Complex.

The Purple Raiders (10-4) defeated MCLA (0-1) 9-7 and North Park (5-4) 13-11, recording a total of 26 hits on the day.

Against MCLA, Mount Union was up 7-0 early in the second inning with RBIs from Emily Hume (Minerva), Maggie Dominick (Dennison/Tuscarawas Central Catholic), Morgan Riley (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi), Maddie Pidgeon (Salem/West Branch) and Allie Goldy (Painesville/Riverside). Hanna Ingram (Stow) went perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a pair of runs and a walk.

Cheyanne Bosse (Montville/Berkshire) would get her first win from the circle, now 1-1, after three innings pitched while allowing three runs on five hits with a strikeout and a walk. Peyton Morrison (Canton/GlenOak) came in as relief and collect her first save with a run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

It was a hitter's game against North Park as both teams combined for 34 hits. History repeated itself for Mount Union as the Raiders claimed an early 7-0 lead after two innings. Dominick accounted for five of those runs with a two-run double in her first at bat and a three-run homer in the second. Goldy chipped in with a two-run single to deep left field.

North Park's bats found life in a three-run shot over the center field fence, cutting the deficit to 7-3 after three innings. Holding the Raiders scoreless in the top of the fourth, North Park was able to tie the game with two RBI singles that would bring in four runs.

Brooklyn Hellman (Canton/Massillon Jackson) reignited the Mount Union offense in the top of the fifth with a perfectly placed blooper to left center, sending pinch runner Lindsay Gable (Norton) home for the 8-7 lead. Another RBI from Hume and Dominick, combined with an error in the infield, pushed Mount Union's advantage back up to four runs at 11-7 heading into the bottom half of the inning. North Park stayed in the game, sending three across the plate, to trail by one again at 11-10.

Mount Union added a pair in the sixth to go ahead 13-10. North Park responded with a run with bases load and just one out. Morrison fielded a bunt back to Natalie Martin (Millersburg/West Holmes) at the plate and Martin was able to thrown down the batter at first base for a double play, ending the inning; Mount Union leading 13-11.

Top of the seventh, Mount Union would leave a runner stranded and be forced to protect their advantage in the bottom. After securing two outs, the Raiders were faced with the winning run at the plate after a single and a walk for North Park. Morrison contained form within the circle and struck out the batter swinging for the win.

Alexandra Pasco (Wadsworth/Highland) would be credited with the win, moving her record to 6-1, after five innings of work with 10 runs on 11 hits and four strikeouts. Morrison totaled two innings with four hits, a run, a walk and a strikeout.

Mount Union returns to Alliance, Ohio and will begin Ohio Athletic Conference play against Otterbein on Saturday, March 23 at 23rd Street Fields in a 1 p.m. start.
