ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's softball team picked up a pair of 9-0 and 8-4 wins over Hiram College Tuesday at 23rd Street Field.
The Purple Raiders (12-8 overall) tallied 26 hits between the two games as four different Raiders drove in two or more runs to headline the offense.
Alexandra Pasco (Wadsworth / Highland) struck out four batters over 6.0 innings of work for the complete game one shutout.
The Raiders broke the scoreless tie in game one the with a two RBI single from Savanna Miner (Louisville) in the second.
Mount Union added three runs in the fifth off back-to-back RBI doubles from Maddie Pidgeon (Salem / West Branch) and Anna Saxton (Boardman). Later in the inning, Alexis French (Rocky River / Magnificat) hit an RBI single that scored Saxton to push the score 5-0.
The Raiders plated four runs in the sixth with a big two-run home run from Kendra Kerner (Ypsilanti, Mich. / Lincoln) for the 9-0 game one win.
In game two, Mount Union again got on the board in the second scoring three runs as Miner and Hanna Ingram (Stow) both hit RBI doubles to take an early 3-0 lead.
An RBI ground out from Ingram in the third scored Pigeon to make the score 4-0.
Hiram (3-12-1) cut into the lead scoring two in the fourth before Mount Union got three runs back in the bottom frame off back-to-back singles from Allie Goldy (Painesville / Riverside) and Payton Guspyt (Port Washington / Indian Valley) for the 7-2 lead.
The Terriers scored one in the fifth before the Raiders retaliated with a sacrifice fly from Ingram making it 8-3.
Hiram added one in the seventh, but the rally stopped there as Mount Union took the 8-4 victory.
Peyton Morrison (Canton / GlenOak) struck out one batter over 4.1 innings of work for the win.
Mount Union continues Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday against Baldwin Wallace in a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Berea, Ohio.
