Softball: Raiders Split with Baldwin Wallace in OAC Action

BEREA, Ohio--Mount Union's softball team salvaged a split with Baldwin Wallace after losing the first game 6-0 and taking the second 12-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference competition Wednesday afternoon. 

The Purple Raiders are now 13-11 and 1-5 in the OAC while Baldwin Wallace shifts to 19-3 and 3-1 in conference play. 

Mount Union had three Raiders drive in two or more runs in the game two victory to headline the offense on the day. 

Baldwin Wallace scored three runs in the second to get on the board in game one and took a quick 3-0 lead. 

The Yellow Jackets added three runs in the sixth for the 6-0 game one win. 

Ashley Cascio (Elyria / Elyria Catholic) took the loss in game one striking out three batters over 6.0 innings of work. 

The Raiders started the scoring in game two collecting a run in the first then plating four runs over the second and third innings for a 5-0 lead. 

Mount Union scored four runs in the fourth highlighted by a two run single from Payton Guspyt (Port Washington / Indian Valley) to make it 9-0. 

The Raiders added three more runs in the fifth sparked by back-to-back RBI singles from Hanna Ingram (Stow) and Montana Martin (Massillon / Tuslaw) to go on to the 12-0 victory. 

Peyton Morrison (Canton / GlenOak) scattered three hits over 5.0 innings of work and struck out three batters for the win. 

Mount Union continues OAC play facing Ohio Northern in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 6 at 23rd Street Field.
