CLERMONT, Fla. - The Mount Union softball team won a pair of games in day five of The Spring Games Wednesday afternoon at Hancock Park.
The Purple Raiders (8-2) extend their win streak to six with a 13-3 win over Dominican (Ill.) (5-7) and a 4-3 win over Emmanuel (Mass.) (2-4).
Against Dominican (Ill.), the Stars scored in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead but Raiders retaliated with back-to-back sacrifice flyouts from junior Maggie Dominick (Dennison / Tuscarawas Central Catholic) and sophomore Alyssa Rose (Madison) to score junior Brooklyn Hellman (Canton / Massillon Jackson) and freshman Grace Heath (Beloit / West Branch). To round out the first inning, sophomore Hanna Ingram (Stow) singled to bring junior Maddie Pidgeon (Salem / West Branch) home to put the Raiders up 3-1. Dominican added two runs in the second and third inning to tie the game at 3-3. Mount Union scored 10 more runs before ending the game in the fifth inning, 13-3.
