Pohovey and Rose Named Academic All-OAC
(AUSTINTOWN, OH)--Mount Union senior Tessa Pohovey
(Strasburg/Tusky Valley) and sophomore Amanda Rose
(Uniontown/Green) have been named Academic All-Ohio Athletic
Conference by the conference's 10 faculty athletics
representatives.
Pohovey now a two-time Academic All-OAC selection, is second on the
team averaging 11.0 points per game on her way to becoming the
first Purple Raider named to the All-OAC First Team since
2004. She was also selected to the All-OAC Tournament Team as
Mount Union won the 2010 OAC Basketball Tournament. Off the
court, she maintains a 3.82 grade point average as a criminal
justice major.
Rose averages 8.5 points and a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game for
the Raiders, while in the classroom she has a 3.94 grade point
average as an international business major.
To be named Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least
a 3.25 gpa as a starter or a key reserve and in at least their
second year of participation in the sport.
Both players are starters on a Mount Union that is 26-4 on the
season and playing in the sectionals (round of 16) in the NCAA
Women's Basketball Championship Friday at 8 pm (EST) against
Washington (MO) in St. Louis, MO.
