Rosa LaMattina Named OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

(AUSTINTOWN, OH)--Mount Union freshman guard Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

LaMattina scored 18 of her career-high 27 points in the first half to lead Mount Union to an 81-78 win at then first place Baldwin-Wallace last Wednesday.

She then came back with 18 points as the Purple Raiders scored a 68-66 win at Otterbein to give them 20 wins in a season for the first time since 1997-98.

On the season, LaMattina leads the team in scoring (11.1 ppg), assists (62) and steals (51).

Mount Union, ranked No. 25 in the nation last week, finishes the regular season by hosting Muskingum Wednesday at 7:30 pm and traveling to first place Capital Saturday at 4:30 pm.  If the Purple Raiders win both games, they will clinch a share of the OAC title and the No. 1 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.
