Tessa Pohovey Named Academic All-District Basketball

DELAWARE, Ohio--Mount Union senior guard Tessa Pohovey (Strasburg/Tusky Valley) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Women's Basketball Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Pohovey has started all 20 games so far this season for the Purple Raiders and is the team's leading scorer at 11.4 points per game.  She has helped lead Mount Union to a 17-3 overall record and a 10-3 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Pohovey has played in 90 games and started 69 in her career at Mount Union earning All-OAC Second Team and All-Academic honors last season.

Off the court, she has a 3.82 grade point average as a criminal justice major and participated with the rest of the Mount Union basketball team in the Dream to Read program where they read to students at Parkway Elementary School in Alliance.

To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average.  Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.  Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot.  District IV includes every NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institution in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
