WAYNESBURG, Pa – Senior Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) scored a game-high 17 points and had five steals as No. 4 Mount Union defeated Waynesburg 72-56 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon in Marisa Fieldhouse on the campus of Waynesburg University (Pa.).
The Purple Raiders improve to 4-0 on the season and extend their non-conference win streak to 27 games, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-3 on the season.
Senior Tierney Allen (Alliance/Alliance) scored a season-high 12 points and 13 rebounds, for her first double-double of the season, while Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) chipped in with 11 points and Hayden Giuliani had 16 to lead Waynesburg.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a quick start starting the game on a 13-4 run. Daniel tied the game at 21, and the Raiders would never trail from that point on.
