GAME PREVIEW: #2 Women's Basketball Host OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace Wednesday December 19 at 7:30pm

No. 2 ranked Women's Basketball plays at home Wednesday Dec. 19 at 7:30 pm in Alliance, Ohio against Baldwin Wallace  for an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up at the MAAC.

The game will be broadcast LIVE on the radio on WDPN 1310 AM and simulcast online - LIVE AUDIO along with LIVE STATS

The Purple Raiders (8-0, 3-0 OAC) are coming off a 77-62 win against Otterbein last Saturday at the MAAC as junior Amanda Turner (Wooster/Wooster) led the way with 21 points. Three other Raiders scored in double figures with senior Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) at 17, sophomore Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) chipping in 10 while freshman Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) came off the bench and added 16 points.

On the season, LaMattina leads the Raiders with averages 17.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

Baldwin Wallace (4-3, 1-2 OAC) comes into the game Wednesday after a win against Wilmington 75-62 on Dec. 15.

The Yellow Jackets are led by junior guard Jessica Lairson, who averages 8.7 points per game while freshman forward Alissa Munro is second in scoring averaging 8.6 points per game.

Mount Union goes on the road Saturday December 22 to face Capital in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in Columbus Ohio at 3 pm.

THE SERIES

This will be the 78th meeting between the teams with Baldwin-Wallace holding the 39-38 lead in the series. Mount Union has won six of the last seven meetings.

COACHES

Suzy Venet (Mount Union '98) is 140-63 in her eighth season at her Alma mater.  Venet was an All-American for the Purple Raiders and is the OAC's all-time assists leader.  As head coach, the Raiders have won two OAC regular season titles, three OAC Tournament titles and made three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.  She is a two-time OAC Coach of the Year and was WBCA Region and D3hoops Region Coach of the Year in 2012.  She was an assistant coach at Bowling Green and Minnesota State-Mankato then got her first head coaching job at Manchester (Ind.). Including her season at Manchester, her career coaching record is 151-79.

Cheri Harrer is 450-163 in her 23rd season. Harrer is the winningest women's basketball coach in school history at Baldwin Wallace. Under Harrer's direction they Yellow Jackets have won seven of the last 13 OAC regular season championships and five OAC Tournament titles, while appearing in 11 of the last 17 Division III national tournaments.
