No. 13 Women’s Basketball Falls On The Road At No. 12 Ohio Northern

Ada, Ohio – No. 13 Mount Union women's basketball fell on the road Saturday January 5th to No. 12 Ohio Northern, 62-45, in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.

Freshman Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) led the way for the Purple Raiders coming off the bench with 10 points shooting four-of-seven from the field while freshman counterpart Jessie Baldridge (Mount Gilead/Mount Gilead) scored career high seven points shooting three-of-six from the field in the loss to ONU.

With its loss, Mount Union moves 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the OAC.

Leading the way for Ohio Northern was senior Morgan Dumbaugh with game-high 17 points, contributing in the win was senior Joanna Snyder with 16 points. Along with Dumbaugh and Snyder, junior Cenzie Yoder chipped in with 11 points while senior Katie Mengos grabbed 12 rebounds for the Polar Bears.

The lead changed hands a total of four times and tied once in the first half, with Mount Union grabbing its largest lead of the game at nine points at the 11:03 mark. The Polar Bears chipped away at the Raiders lead bringing it a one point game at the 7:50 mark, 19-20 Mount Union. Over the next two minutes, the lead would switch hands at the 5:48 mark when ONU led by two, 24-22. ONU would build on their lead to a four point lead going into the half.

The Polar Bears start the second half with a 12-to-4 run before putting the game away. ONU built the lead to 20 points at the 7:39 mark, 55-35. Closing out the game outscoring the Raiders 18-13, ONU would win with the final 62-45. This win marks ONU's first win against the Raiders since the 2008-09 season winning 47-44 in Alliance.

Mount Union returns home when they face Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Conference, Wednesday January 9th at 7:30 pm.
