GAME PREVIEW -- No. 15 Women’s Basketball Travels To Otterbein Saturday

No. 15 ranked Mount Union travels to Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball matchup Saturday February 2nd at 3:00 pm in Westerville, Ohio.

There will be LIVESTATS feed, LIVE VIDEO as well as LIVE AUDIO for this game.

The Purple Raiders (16-4, 10-3 OAC) are coming off a 74-71 loss at Baldwin Wallace last Wednesday (Jan. 30) as sophomore Aly Daniel (Willard/Willard) led the way with the game's only double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior's Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) and Tierney Allen (Alliance/Alliance) scored 19 and 10 points respectively while freshman Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) scored 12 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

On the season the Raiders are led by LaMattina who averages 16.5 points, 4.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Otterbein (16-4, 10-3 OAC) comes into the game Saturday after a loss at #6 Ohio Northern 65-42 last Wednesday (Jan. 30) snapping their seven game conference win streak.

The Cardinals are led by senior Hannah Day who averages 16.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while sophomore Tabatha Piper who averages 10.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Mount Union returns home to host OAC foe Muskingum Wednesday, February 6th at 7:30 pm in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

THE SERIES

This will be the 63rd meeting between the teams since 1984 with Mount Union holding the 34-28 lead in the series.

EARLIER THIS SEASON

Mount Union won in Alliance, 77-62, with junior Amanda Turner (Wooster/Wooster) leading the Raiders with 21 points and the Cardinals' Day had game-high 23 points.

COACHES

Suzy Venet (Mount Union '98) is 148-67 in her eighth season at her Alma mater.  Venet was an All-American for the Purple Raiders and is the OAC's all-time assists leader.  As head coach, the Raiders have won two OAC regular season titles, three OAC Tournament titles and made three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.  She is a two-time OAC Coach of the Year and was WBCA Region and D3hoops Region Coach of the Year in 2012.  She was an assistant coach at Bowling Green and Minnesota State-Mankato then got her first head coaching job at Manchester (Ind.).  Including her season at Manchester, her career coaching record is 159-83.

Connie Richardson (Heidelberg '86) is 307-255 in her 22nd season at Otterbein. Richardson ranks as the winningest coach in women's basketball at Otterbein. Richardson is a two-time OAC Coach of the year (2001 & 2005).
