WOOSTER, Ohio – Sophomore Annie Bova's (Parma Heights/Beaumont) two free throws push Mount Union's women's basketball over Earlham (Ind.) 68-67 in the last day of the Nan Nichols Classic hosted by the College of Wooster Sunday.
Senior Olivia Holt (Williamsfield/Pymatuning Valley) set a new career-high in rebounds as she led the team with eight.
Bova and Reed both earned all-tournament honors for the Raiders.
The Quakers (0-2) would have three players in double-digits, Kasin Spay led the team with 13 points, while Raven Bryant-Williams and Hannah Franklin each chipped in with 10 points.
The first half would see three lead changes, as Earlham would lead by as much as seven at one point in the half. The Quakers would go into the half leading 33-30.
The second half would open with three-pointer from Bova to tie the game at 33, the Raiders would then go on a 10-0 run and would lead by as much as 10 at the 10:52 mark, before the Quakers would chip away at that lead.
Bryant-Williams would sink a jumper to give Earlham a 67-66 lead with 29 seconds remaining, before Bova would be fouled on a jumper with three seconds remaining, and sink both free throws to make it the final 68-67.
Mount Union (2-0) will host Waynesburg (Pa.) in the second game of the 2013 M-Club Shootout on Friday, November 22nd at 7 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
