ALLIANCE, Ohio – Sophomore Annie Bova (Parma Heights/ Beaumont) scored a career-high 29 points, as the Mount Union women's basketball team went on to defeat Muskingum 83-61 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday night.
Sophomore Sarah Grippi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) chipped in with 14 points to lead the Purple Raiders (9-7, 3-6 OAC)
Tori Jarrett had 16 points and six rebounds as teammate Gabbi Davis had 13 points to lead the Fighting Muskies (4-11, 2-7 OAC)
Bova scored Mount Union's first seven points as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead. The Muskies would battle to within a point, 14-13 with 13:24 remaining in the first half.
The Raiders would answer with a 12-0 run to make the score 26-13 with 11:11 in the half. Mount Union went into the half with a 47-31 advantage.
Muskingum opened the second half cutting the Raiders lead to eight points with 12:22 remaining, 55-47. The Raiders went on a 12-0 surge, as Bova scored 10 of the 12 points, to go up 67-47 with 10:28 to go.
Mount Union then cruised to the 22-point victory, 83-61.
Mount Union opens the second half of conference play on the road, traveling to Heidelberg on Saturday January 24 at 3 PM at the Seiberling Gymnasium.
