
ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union rallied from 14 points down with under 12 minutes to play to beat Otterbein 62-57 in an Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders (11-10, 5-9 OAC) were led by junior guard Chandler Moore (Girard, Pa., Girard) who scored a career-high 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
Sophomore Annie Bova (Parma Heights, Beaumont) also had 10 points for Mount Union.
Otterbein (7-14, 3-11 OAC) was led by juniors Tabatha Piper and Chelsea Reed scoring 18 and 16 points respectively.
Otterbein ran out a 14-4 advantage in the game's first seven minutes, but the Raiders came back with a pair of three pointers.
The Cardinals would respond and take an eight-point lead with 13 seconds left in the half, but Moore would cut the deficit to five -- 33-28 at the half with a three that beat the buzzer.
Otterbein used a 13-4 run early in the second half to take its largest lead of the game at 14 points, 46-32, with 11:30 left in the game. Mount Union then scored 11-straight points -- nine from Moore and Bova -- to get back into the game, 48-45.
The Raiders took their first lead since the game's opening minutes -- 56-53 -- on an Amanda Turner (Wooster/Wooster) three-pointer with 1:12 left in the game.
Mount Union sealed the win going 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the final minute.
Mount Union next travels to Muskingum for an OAC game Wednesday February 12 at 7:30 pm in New Concord.
