Women's Basketball: Mount Union Hosts OAC Opponent #23 Ohio Northern Wednesday

ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team hosts #23 Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

What: Mount Union (9-2, 3-1 OAC) vs. #23 Ohio Northern (9-2, 4-0 OAC)

Game Preview: Mount Union comes into the game winners of six straight and is in third place in the OAC with a 3-1 record in conference play. The Purple Raiders went 2-0 in Nashville, Tenn. in the Music City Classic defeating Meredith (N.C.) and Babson (Mass.) Dec. 29 and 30. 

Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) leads the team in points and is first in the OAC with 20.7. She is also second in the OAC in field goal percentage with 55.2. Abby Wemhoff (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) leads the team in rebounds with a total of 69 and averages 6.3 per game.

No. 23 ranked Ohio Northern is on a seven game winning streak with it's last win against Ohio Wesleyan 80-43.

Amy Bullimore recorded a team-high 14 points in the contest for ONU, while Carly Thomas added 12 points. Bullimore is first in the OAC in field goal percentage with 59.5.

Coaches: Suzy Venet is in her 10th season as head women's basketball coach at Mount Union. Since taking over as coach, she has brought the Raiders three OAC Tournament titles, two OAC regular season titles and three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament including making it to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2012.  Venet was named the OAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by both the WBCA and D3Hoops.com in 2010 and 2012.

Michele Durand enters her 15th season as the head coach of the Ohio Northern women's basketball program. In 2014-15, Durand guided the Polar Bears to a 20-6 record, with a 16-2 mark in OAC play. The Polar Bears won the OAC regular season and made it to the semifinals of the OAC tournament for the fourth time in her ONU coaching career. For her efforts, Durand was named the Ohio Athletic Conference coach of the year for the second consecutive season, third time in her career.
