Women's Basketball: Three Score in Double Figures as Raiders Beat Wilmington

ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team defeated Wilmington, 93-60, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Mount Union got a game-high 21 points from Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont), Rachel Tinkey (Canfield/Canfield) had 16 while Abby Wemhoff (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) posted a career-high 11 points as the Purple Raiders are now 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the OAC.

Wilmington (5-8, 2-4 OAC) was led by Mackenzie Campbell with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Wemhoff started the Raiders off with a three-point shot 15 seconds into the game but the Quakers took control and led 19-8 six minutes into the game.

Mount Union would then go on a 12-2 run to close the gap to 20-19 then three pointers from Cassi Bowen (Brunswick/Brunswick) and Tinkey would give the Raiders a 24-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The Raiders led the entire second quarter and stretched the lead to seven, 46-39 at halftime.

Mount Union pushed the lead to nine points, 58-49 early in the third quarter before the Raiders finished the quarter on a 14-5 surge that gave them a 72-54 lead. The Quakers would get no closer than 21 points the rest of the way.

Mount Union travels to OAC opponent, Muskingum Wednesday Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m in New Concord.
